It's been an exciting year for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. 2011 had its share of great moments, and 2012 is slated to be even better!

For those of you who do not know me, as I usually spend my time here at wowtcg.com behind the scenes, my name's Mike Rosenberg. I'm the editor for the weekly content that is posted up on this website, and I am also one of the two Mikes that make up the North American coverage staff for Darkmoon Faires (the other Mike being Sacco, the man with the crazy Twitter following and some fabulous hair).

I normally don't come out from behind the curtain, but today is a special exception. Your regularly scheduled articles will be going on break for the next two weeks, as we give our hard-working writers some well deserved time off for the holidays and New Year's Day. Your regularly scheduled articles will resume in the first week of 2012. Be sure to keep posting on the forums on what you think of the articles. I read all comments in the forum threads linked to each article, as do our writers, and we take your feedback very seriously.

While the writers have their break, that doesn't mean there won't be any content for these next two weeks. In fact, there is reason to keep checking back each day. Every weekday from here until December 30th, we will be featuring some hi-res artwork from the upcoming Crown of the Heavens expansion. During this week, the writers along with myself will be sharing their favorite moment from 2011 in the WoW TCG, and next week we will all share what we are most excited about for this game in 2012.

I'll be kicking this Crown of the Heavens artwork showcase with a look back to my favorite memory of the WoW TCG in 2011: the World Cup.

The World Cup was a very special weekend for me, personally. Not only was it the first big team event, it was the chance for me to finally meet a lot of players that I have never had the pleasure of talking to face to face. It was my first chance to hang out with Oliver Gehrmann and the Bootcamp LE crew. I got a chance to talk to Marcin Filipowicz which also led to him sharing some stories of his tournaments over at Daily Metagame which I help manage. It was my first opportunity to work with David Sutcliffe and the legendary Rich Hagon, game commentator extraordinaire. I got a chance to witness my home country, with its one entry into the World Cup, take home the title.

On top of that, the World Cup was my first opportunity to visit Paris. It's a beautiful city, and I cannot wait to go back. The number of friendships that ignited and have grown since that event make the World Cup one of the most memorable events for me in 2011.

And now, without further ado, it's time to feature the first piece of artwork from Crown of the Heavens. And it can be summarized in one simple phrase: "D'AWWWWWWWWWW!".

It's a baby Murloc!

Crown of the Heavens previews start on January 14th!
