It's time to call out a Champion of the Black Flame and make them the Volunteer of the Month. For March, we are talking about someone a few of you may already know about. He is the “mouthpiece” for one of the most renown playgroups in the country. When not busy fulfilling his normal duties as a Champion and scheduling weekly events for his local store, he can be found all over that social networking site that everybody is always talking about, promoting the game and the people who play it.
Speaking about the internet, this old guy has spent some of his extensive time in cyberspace to rally his fellow Champions into setting up, participating in, and consolidating the WoWTCG Cup, (if you missed it, here is a link) a series of volunteer run events that all share a common weekend for their finals in Oct! I’m sure you’ve heard me ramble on about how awesome this program is so I won’t take up too much of your time; however I would like to stress that this is a Champion run series that shows the power of what the volunteers can do when they work together, something this Champion is able to get done.
Somehow our Champion also finds time to be a fairly regular co-host on the “A Question of Gluttony” podcast, spreading his own special kind of wisdom to the WoW TCG community at large (some say he has a stache for radio). Last, but not least, he produces a video series twice a month on DailyMetaGame.com that highlights the antics of our volunteer and the locals that put up with him every week, the “Mozu Report”.
He is also working on a couple other projects that will be impressive once they are released. He asked me not to spoil anything, but I don’t hear too well through Facebook chat. A new game show type contest, a big tournament at NACC, and a new video series that will help bring more information to judges and volunteers are just a couple of what he has boiling on the stove.
So in case you haven’t figured it out yet, we are talking about Aric Jack, CZVE # 26, “stuck” in the wasteland of Tucson, AZ. He and the rest of the Tucson WoW crazies have continually pushed and promoted the game for the past 3 plus years, making quite the name for themselves. You don’t have to Top 8 a DMF or win a Realm Championship to become well known in this game; all you have to do is show that you are dedicated, put in the hard work, and have a great personality. So, if you find yourself in AZ on any given Sunday, look them up on the Tucson WoW Facebook page and stop by the local store. You never know how your weekend will end up! For all of his hard work, Aric will receive an uncut sheet, a Cryptozoic playmat (have you seen these yet? they are awesome!) and some additional CZE goodies. Congratulations Aric, keep up the good work and remember to keep that stache under control, eh?
