Matthias Nagy

Hi, I'm Matthias and I'm the European part of Cryptozoic Entertainment and the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. When it comes to Organized Play, running events, customer service and other tasks in Europe, I’m the person who is most involved. There are many elements to my job and while not every responsibility I have is all fun and games, I love my job.

My only gripe is the fact that I'm far away from all my coworkers who are in sunny California. So while they have the option of going surfing between meetings, I have to shovel the snow from my front yard (at least in the winter. In the last two years there were times when it was as cold as -8°F). Today I’d like to keep you updated on what I have in store for you over in the EU.

There are currently two major tasks for me. First are the preparations for Darkmoon Faire Cannes. I hope everyone is making plans travel to France and enjoy the weekend of February 17th – 19th, 2012 with us. The full event schedule is online and you can already see the number of events we are offering. The other is the 2012 Realm Championship Season. Talking to distributors, stores, judges and players so I can schedule all of the events is only part the work. I also need to make sure that the event kits are shipped out so players can enjoy their Realm Qualifiers and have prizes available on site.

There is one other thing keeps me on my feet regularly. That is Crafting Redemption. We set up a PO Box in Berlin, so more players would have a local and faster method of Crafting Redemptions. To have an idea how PO boxes looks in Berlin, take a look at the picture below.

These are all usual PO boxes of a normal size, but they don’t look very big, do they? How many letters do fit in there? Let’s look inside our box and count all the letters they tried to cram in.

This doesn’t look good. Either nobody wanted to send us anything (which means I drove here for nothing), or I did something horribly wrong.

The truth is that the pink card in there is a message telling me to go to the counter. I’ve seen these pink cards before and I know the people at the post office well. In exchange for that card I get the following.

I got lucky this time around, and it’s only one box this week. This box can be worked through rather quickly. There are weeks where I get multiple boxes, and that means it takes me longer to go through all of them. But I love my work, and I take great pride in my crafting skills. Weeks in which I get more crafting requests I work longer to make sure it gets handled faster. If you have some crafting materials at home, head over to the crafting page and send them to me.

But one request: If you send me anything from outside the European Union, make sure to have all the customs papers on it. If you don’t, I need to go to the customs office and wait approximately three hours before I can talk to somebody. When it’s my turn, I need to haggle over what to pay for import duties. Issues like this cause significant delays in Crafting Redemption, and it’s better for me (and you) if you have everything in order when you send you redemptions to us.

Do you have any questions about Crafting Redemption? You can always contact us at player@cryptozoic.com.

Be seeing you,
Matthias Nagy
