Every December, Cryptozoic's Champions of the Black Flame host a Chase the Can Charity Tournament at their local store. We're all about fun and good times here in Azeroth, but it's also important to sometimes step back and see how we can be of service to our local communities on the whole. We try to build an inclusive atmosphere in our tournaments and we hope that our players take that same goal and make it their own when it comes to not just our game, but how they treat everyone they come across in their day-to-day life.
We cannot overstate the importance of our volunteers. Without them, organizing their players and keeping everyone abreast of what's happening in the game, many local playgroups would not exist. As an extension of the Cryptozoic family, they're incredible people and ambassadors for the Cryptozoic "fans first" mentality. This year, 62 Champions of the Black Flame across 10 countries took up the call to reach out to their local cities and food banks. Last year, Tucson, AZ collected the highest number of food items at 580. This year, some Champions entered into a "gentleman's wager" to see which location would collect the most cans. Our Champions outdid themselves yet again last weekend by collecting over 10,000 cans total and Tucson, AZ took top billing yet again with an incredible 1570 cans of food! The result of that wager? Each champion listed their preferred charity and each other Champion agreed to make a donation. Tucson's Aric Jack selected the American Cancer Society, so each participating champion will make a donation to Aric's favorite charity. Thank you to everyone-- players, stores, and volunteers-- who made this possible! Enjoy these pictures from Chase the Can and we'll see you next year!

Here is Aric (CZE Volunteer #24) with his erected Throne at Tucson's Amazing Discoveries. Don't worry, friends. Frostmourne hungers, but not for canned goods. Those are safe.

Russia's Phillip Larin (CZE Volunteer #331) organized Moscow's Chase the Can at Portal!

Joe Duyos (CZE Volunteer #457) worked with Cool Stuff Games South Florida to feed the hungry this holiday season!

Martin Kurr (CZE Volunteer #240) pieced together this gift at Planet Chaos in my home state of Wisconsin!

Hungary will have full bellies this holiday season! Zoltán Arató (CZE Volunteer #24) collected canned goods for Hungary at his local store of Törptárna.
