I’m super excited about Darkmoon Faire Los Angeles. Mega-über-scary excited. I realize that I’m sitting higher up than most of you and can see all the pieces we have in place, which is likely why I’m more excited than the average person. So I’m going to trumpet these pieces out so you can get a better view of the colossal avalanche of awesomeness that will be heaped upon you at this event – you are coming, right?

The League

You think The CZE League at DMFs as just a fun side distraction, something to be involved with between tournaments? I’m going to challenge you that this will be the best League in quite a long time, something you’ll want to pencil into your tight DMF schedule. What do I have to back my position up, you ask? There will be at least 4 brand new, previously unreleased promo cards that will be found in various degrees of rarity in the league. One is even an epic! I’m not going to reveal what they are, or the ratios in which they can be found, but they’ll be there for the rabid collector. Don’t fear if you can’t make it to DMF LA; these promo cards will start to pop up in Leagues globally during the first half of the year. You’ll see them in Cannes, Chengdu, Baltimore, Madrid, etc… But they won’t be around forever!

Remember hearing that we were retiring the Alexstrasza costume? It’s gone now to that big dragon roost in the sky, but CZE’s Brand Ambassador Christina Sims will be on hand for the debut of “Project: Sexy Murloc.” Look for an announcement of what that will be in the very near future. You’ll be able to challenge her with a brand new deck starting at DMF LA. Who will grab world first takedown? How many players will she humble? Those that are signed up for the League will be taking their best shots at Christina all weekend long.

Blizzard gunslingers will also be on hand wrecking players as they try to win the elusive Blizzard playmat off them. They’ll have both Constructed and Class Starter Decks you can play against. Just sign up at the CZE League. And oh yea, the first of the 2012 deckboxes can be snagged just by signing up (and if you keep it a secret, we also have some leftover 2011 league playmats that we’re going to give to people that sign up, while supplies last).

Tabletop Games

If you’ve been living under a rock you may not have known that, in addition to creating the massively popular World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, we produce board games. At DMF LA we’ll not only be setting up our first Tabletop Game room, but we’ll be inviting press and retailers from all over to stop by and play some games with us! The full lineup of games we’ll be showing off can be found over on the DMF LA page. This is a giant step forward for Cryptozoic! Five not-yet-available games will be shown off for the first time at DMF LA, including the World of Warcraft: Clash of Champions deck-building game. I can’t wait for all of you to get your hands on these games, and I’ll be in this room most of the weekend making sure we all have a blast.

Even if it takes me all weekend, I’m going to try and arrange a RIW Hobbies vs Daily Metagame high-stakes challenge of Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre (you read that correctly). Come battle me!

Sneak Preview

Do you want to play with Crown of the Heavens before anybody else in the world? The first ever Team Sealed Sneak Preview starts on Friday, Jan 27^th at 5:00 PM. Each 3-person team will be given 12 booster packs of Crown of the Heavens (which doesn’t release until Feb 7^th) to build three individual decks. Get this… Prizes are based on the team’s record.  Any team that notches a 3-0 record will get 3 rare Crown of the Heavens Loot cards (one for each member of the team). I think there are going to be a ton of teams showing up for this event, so there is a good potential of 10+ teams going 3-0. Those are pretty good odds of taking home a mount! And by the way, teams that go 2-1 get a Crown of the Heavens Uncommon Loot and 1-2 teams get a Crown of the Heavens Common Loot! And I haven’t even told you about the surprise that we’re doing for this event!!!

Volunteer of the Year Award

Let’s face it, our Volunteers rock hard! You wouldn’t have events in your local community, and you wouldn’t get all that awesome coverage up on wowtcg.com, among other things, if it weren’t for the Volunteers. During the player meeting on Saturday morning we’re going to recognize the 2011 Volunteer of the Year. Who will it be? What are we going to hook them up with? We’ll find out soon enough, but it truly will be more of a party than just a ceremony as we’ll have something for everyone in attendance that morning!

See what I mean? There is a lot of very cool stuff going down at DMF LA. And I haven’t even mentioned that World Champion Hans Höh is rumored to be making his way to this event. Nor have I mentioned that we’re going to have a massive bounty tournament with Cryptozoic and Blizzard employees for you to beat up on Saturday night. Realm Qualifier? We have that too! Oh, and that big tournament that has $10,000 in prizes? I guess if that’s your thing, you could come for that as well.
