Our first event of the New Year, Darkmoon Faire Los Angeles 2012, has come to a close. This three day event started on Friday, January 27^th and ended with a bang on Sunday, January 29^th. This Darkmoon Faire was one of our best events to date.

The Continental Ballroom, which hosted the bulk of our tournaments, was packed with people playing World of Warcraft Trading Card Game each day until the hotel had to close the hall each night. Vendors like The Metamart and Warcraft Gaming Center happily traded and sold the most popular cards right outside the main doors. Many of our players got their first taste of unreleased Cryptozoic games such as the World of Warcraft: Clash of Champions deck-building game, Penny Arcade: the Game,  Rumble at R’lyeh, Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre, and Food Fight: Snack Attack.

Speaking of food, we at Cryptozoic decided to surprise our Darkmoon Faire players with the biggest cupcakes I have ever seen. These monster sized cupcakes were a perfect accompaniment to the newest monster Heroes and Allies players were cracking at our Crown of the Heavens Team Format Sneak Preview event. 

We were also very proud to announce our Volunteer of the Year: Julia Smith. She received a Doomhammer from us as thanks for all of her hard work she has done for the Champions of the Black Flame and her local gaming community. Congratulations to her!

Our events are exceptional due to the contributions, time, and effort of our rock star volunteers and judges. The way they handled judge rulings this weekend, or assisted with event organization, league signups, and crafting redemption really made a difference in how smoothly the event ran. Every single one of our volunteers worked so hard all weekend and made Darkmoon Faire Los Angeles an exceptional event for our players.

While every member of our staff this weekend was extraordinary, we would like to recognize some additional members our volunteer staff that went ‘above-and-beyond’ over the course of Darkmoon Faire Los Angeles:
