Alexstrasza is recovering from her injuries in the Wyrmrest Temple, and you can’t find her wandering the tables, or sitting on her throne awaiting brave players that want to challenge her.

Her place has taken by Vanessa VanCleef, the famous assassin and thief, current leader of the Defias Brotherhood, portrayed in Europe by the marvelous Svetlana Quindt.

She is waiting for you, ready to poison you to death with her deadly Toxins.

Not for real, obviously. Well, as far as we know. What Svetlana does have is a deck, so special and so strong that if you win the match against it you will receive a special prize. Anyone that can able to defeat her will receive the Vindicator achievement, and a picture of that hero will be posted on the achievement web page.

And while Vanessa is a formidable opponent, she is not invincible. In her first appearance in Europe yesterday, the honour of her first defeat went to Michael Uchman-Lach .

Today could be your opportunity to reach the Hall of Fame. Are you prepared? She surely is.

I talked to Svetlana about her new character and the work that went into preparing the incredible VanCleef costume.

So Svetlana, how are you finding the change from Alexstrasza to Vanessa VanCleef? How different are the two decks?

Alexstrasza was my first love and I felt comfortable with the deck, it was so aggressive! Vanessa is more tricky. I’m getting used to anew way to play after a lot of events played with Dragonkin, and it’s a lot of fun. The most fun things are the Nightmare cards. These cards will change the whole match, and you have to draw one at random at the start of the game. That will be the first bite from a very poisonous deck!

Talk us about your costume.

I created this costume for this event and this is the first time I’ve worn it. It was a race against time! After the decision to change the characters I started frenetically to prepare it but right up until the last minute I was afraid I might be late.
