Battlegrounds are designed to give players a chance to play in events hosted by their local hobby store. Players have a opportunity to obtain foil promo cards, Token of Justice cards, and the exclusive Battleground Master playmat.

Battlegrounds offer a relaxed atmosphere to players--whether you are just learning how to play or a World Champion. The focus of this event is on fun. Players and stores determine the time and the format of the event, which can be anything from Core Constructed to a Battle of the Aspects raid.

While participating in the Battlegrounds program, players have a chance to complete many achievements which count towards their Battleground master standing.

The Battlegrounds kit is provided free of charge to hobby stores. Each kit provides support for up to 4 weeks of play. Each kit comes with participation cards, prize cards, Token of Justice cards, and a Battleground Master playmat.

Participation Card 

Each kit offers 24 foil participation promo cards that are given to players when they first sign up to play. Sign up quickly, as these cards run out fast. These cards rotate with every kit. The current card is Eldre'Thalas Sorceress.

Prize Card

The first and second place winners of the Battlegrounds event for the week are each given a foil prize promo card. It is up to the store to determine the winners. For stores that run a tournament, this is usually the top 2 players for that tournament. For league-style events, the store will have a different method to determine the winners for each week. A third foil prize promo card is given out weekly to a random participant of that week's play. Finally, a fourth foil prize promo card is given out weekly to the player that is determined by their peers to have the best sportsmanship for that week's play. These cards rotate with every kit. The current card is Firestorm.

Achievements

During the 4 weeks of Battlegrounds play, players can work to complete achievements provided in the kit. These tasks range from a simple Play in a Battleground tournament, to complex Win a game by dealing only odd packets of damage. New achievements are published in every kit. Each kit's achievements are attached on the specific kit page.

Token of Justice Card

Starting with the 2010 Battleground Kit 9, the Badge of Justice will have its name changed to Token of Justice. Both the old Badge of Justice cards and the new Token of Justice cards will be interchangable and will work exactly the same.

Players can acquire the valuable Token of Justice cards by completing the tasks listed on their Achievement Score card. A Token of Justice is awarded to a player for every 200 achievement points earned. Token of Justice cards can be redeemed for play-exclusive cards that can be added to your World of Warcraft Trading Card Game deck.

Battleground Master Playmat

The player that has accumulated the most achievement points at the end of the four week cycle is declared the Battleground Master. That player is then awarded the Battleground Master playmat. The playmat rotates every 3 kits.
