Rules and Tournament Policies

Players are responsible for knowing all game rules and tournament policies.  In addition, players are responsible to ensure that sleeves used at the event are opaque, as not to reveal the backs of cards during tournament play.

Conduct

All players are expected to behave in a sporting manner at all times before, during, and after the tournament.  Proper player conduct is a top priority for Cryptozoic Entertainment.

Decklists and Other Forms

Players are expected to complete and turn in the appropriate tax form before they can collect certain prizes. Decklists must be complete and accurate when they are collected: once collected, players will not be able to revise their list in any manner; any errors found will result in the appropriate tournament penalty.

Prizes and Payment Information

All players who receive an electronic prize, gift card, or cash prize must fill out a W9 or W8BEN; Cryptozoic Entertainment reports winnings to the IRS. Foreign nationals winning cash prizes in United States should expect to have 30% of their winnings withheld for tax purposes.

Prizes awarded become the sole responsibility of the player, including redemption of prizes through third parties, transportation, and administrative costs associated with the prize. Cryptozoic Entertainment will award prizes based on tournament standings and will not adjust prize payouts based on negotiated prize splits.

Additional Information

Players must bring their own pens, paper, card sleeves, and appropriate counters with them to the tournament. There will be vendors in the main event hall selling accessories, product, and singles.

Alexstrasza

The Life-Binder will be at Darkmoon Faire Chicago. Bring your best Core deck and battle the Queen of the Red Dragonflight. If you win, you will earn the Dragonslayer achievement, have your picture taken with Alexstrasza for our future Dragonslayers web page, and be presented with a special button to declare your victory to all who may come across your path.

Should you lose, you'll be roasted and become just another dragonslaying statistic.

Costume Contest

We're bringing the Cryptozoic Costume Contest to Darkmoon Faire Chicago. We'll be giving away Loot cards and other prizes to the best dressed of the DMF. The event starts at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 2nd; registration starts at 1:30 PM.

There are two rules: First, you need to be in a costume inspired by either Diablo, Starcraft, or Warcraft. Second, use common sense-- no smoke machines, for example. Every entrant will get a Landro's Lil XT Loot card with a code that will provide that person's World of Warcraft MMO character the companion pet. We'll also have door prizes like Class Starter Decks, Cryptozoic gear, and Loots-- including a Spectral Tiger. Anybody can win!

As for placing in the event, we have four categories.

Artisan - Is it an epic quest to find every material? Do you scour every Michaels in a 1 hour radius, trying to find the perfect components for your costume? If you have a knack for the actual construction of a costume, this is the category for you. The person with the finest attention to detail and the most exquisite craftsmanship will win.

Straight Out of the Game - Are you a super fan? Is your costuming meticulous, every detail pulled right from the video game? Being in character counts! Craft the most accurate costume to either Diablo, Starcraft, or Warcraft and win this title.

Master Hero - If you can't get your character in the Trading Card Game, why not just become the card? Take the art from one of the thousands of WoWTCG cards and create the ultimate fan costume. Show us your love for the game and become a real-life Master Hero.

Mrglrglmrglmrrrlggg - After Darkmoon Faire Los Angeles, we at Cryptozoic realized we needed a category for those with some heart and a lot of humor. Even if you aren't a master tailor, you can still win; just make us laugh. You still have to craft a costume, but it'll be your personality and sense of humor that carries this category.

Winners of each category will win 1 Blazing Hippogryph Loot card, 2 Class Starter Decks, 1 Worldbreaker Epic Collection, and Cryptozoic gear.

CZE League
